BREAKING: Vets for Freedom Doesn't Like Democrats

When the non-partisan Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) released their newest Congressional Report Card, they gave John McCain a "D."  It's because--as we've shown--he votes against veterans.  Amusingly enough, it seems the pro-Bush/McCain group, Vets for Freedom, got their feelings hurt over this.  And they felt they had to do something.

That's why, today, Vets for Freedom issued a skewed response to IAVA's Report Card in the form of a "Senate Analysis."  In their "analysis," they graded each U.S. senator in a similar fashion, awarding grades of "A" through "F."  Amazingly enough, VFF gave every single Democratic senator a grade of "F."  Go figure.  I'm sure their Republican membership will be pleased.  But given the situation in which they found themselves (with IAVA and VoteVets on cable TV slamming both McCain's grade and his lack of support for veterans), I guess it's to be expected.  I don't hold that against them.

What I do find troubling however, is the fact that Vets for Freedom has essentially accused those senators who received Fs as having voted for "defeat" in Iraq.  And that's a little odd, because, of those senators, we find the following war veterans:

Chuck Hagel (R-NE)

Experience: Vietnam

Award(s): Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge

Vets for Freedom grade: F

Daniel Inouye (D-HI)

Experience: World War Two

Award(s): Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Congressional Medal of Honor

Vets for Freedom grade: F

John Kerry (D-MA)

Experience: Vietnam

Award(s): Bronze Star, Silver Star, Purple Heart (3)

Vets for Freedom grade: F

Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)

Experience: World War Two

Vets for Freedom grade: F

Jim Webb (D-VA)

Experience: Vietnam

Award(s): Bronze Star (2), Silver Star, Purple Heart (2)

Vets for Freedom grade: F

It just seems a little strange to me to say that the men above would relish the "defeat" of the U.S. military overseas.  But I guess it makes sense if you're less concerned with presenting an intellectually honest case than you are with grading on a curve to help out those whose records on veterans and troops issues are rightfully under attack.

I'm afraid the fact that they served ... (4.00 / 1)
isn't relevant, given the limited criteria subjecting one to an "F".

The unspoken being that all these folks are cowards, of course.

I have to wonder if they think (0.00 / 0)
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a "partisan" organization as well?  After all, DAV gave McCain a rating of 20 and Obama a rating of 80.

"No U.S. soldier ever dies in vain because they're carrying out the missions of their commander in chief. And we honor all the service that they've provided." - Barack Obama

Take any speech by Adolph Hitler, (4.00 / 1)
and replace the word "Juden" with "Democrat", or better yet, "liberal", and that'll pretty much sum up the neocon Republican talking points.

Pete Hegseth doesn't let "facts" get in the way (0.00 / 0)
he will twist anything to please Hannity and friends, rather than accept there are good people that are both Democrats and Republicans they feel it is necessary to paint their opposition party as evil

it makes it easier to support the wing nuts and yes it happens in both parties   I  would trust  Sen Hagel and Sen Webb and any of the men listed above they understand Duty Honor and Country    it does not mean one party over another
