McCain Lying about Vet Support Again

Here he goes again, telling everyone about how much veterans' group love him.  He said this one on Sunday:

VETERAN: I know you voted for lesser increases, and sometimes they were so much less, and our VA desperately needs the money. Can you tell me why you would vote for less money for the VA when there's a war going on?

JOHN McCAIN: Well of course I have not and I'm afraid I've been endorsed by the VFW in every election that I've been in. I have been - received the honors, the highest honor and awards from all our veterans organizations for my consistent support of them. I don't know what you're looking at, but the DAV, the VFW, the American Legion, all of them have given me their highest awards for my consistent support of them.

Well yeah, if you don't count VoteVets, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), and Disabled American Veterans (DAV)--all of which have slammed McCain's record of not supporting troops and veterans.

ThinkProgress has more details--including the audio--here.  And, as always, you can read about John McCain's abysmal record on veterans' issues by clicking here.  Of course, Inigo Montoya would certainly have something to say about McCain's use of the word "every" with regard to veterans' organizations:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

My guess? (4.00 / 1)
Johnny Mac is a member of the VFW and American Legion.

George "aWol" Bush is a member of American Legion Post 77, Houston, TX.

Inigo Montoya analogy -- classic! (4.00 / 1)
Same stock phrase by McCain -- inconceivable!

There are veterans, and then there are VETERANS.  The veterans who disagree with McCain are debased as others, and their questions go unanswered.  I personally wonder what the VFW and American Legion say about their support for McCain given his record.  I'm off to search....

We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America. -Barack Obama

You say "debased." I do not think it means what you think it means. (4.00 / 1)
I couldn't help it, it was just a too-perfect opportunity!

Now, I'm waiting for the results of your search, knowing that you are really so very good at what you do---

Two points--another veterans' organization NOT McCain fans: (4.00 / 1)
Veterans for Peace.  Maybe the MOST not McCain fans, and my organization of choice.

And the debasement of language and integrity--this is obviously McCain's forte.  He held off a long time, but either desperation or fatigue has lowered his mask.  I ended up browsing YouTube last night and watched some unbelievable footage of the man being stupid and mendacious, and cursing vilely.  One stellar reply to a reporter's intelligent question:  "What me what?"  (It was in the Spain thing)

What a piece of work.
