Bachmann on GI Bill, Muslims

You may recall that last Friday, Representative Michele Bachmann (R, MN06) when on Hardball with Chris Matthews and called for an in-depth investigation of members of Congress to find out who is "pro America" and who is "anti America."  Obama, of course, is anti-America.

By Sunday evening through a LARGE netroots effort, her Democratic challenger El Tinklenberg had raised more than $680,000!  Currently, the amount of money raised is well over a million.  The DNCC has kicked in a million dollars to boot out the freshman representative, and the RNC has pulled her ads.

Tinklenberg took that money and made a wonderful ad reminding us of ANOTHER reason we should be AGAINST Michele Bachmann.  She opposed the new GI Bill at the start and voted for the second rate version.  She did fall in line by the time it was clear that the new GI Bill had a HUGE bipartisan following and was assured of passage.

Here's the netroots paid-for Tinklenberg ad:

Tinklenberg worked in Powell's remarks against the smears and reminded us of the government's sacred trust with our veterans.

Powell on Bachmann's comments:

Through Bachmann's McCarthy-like invocations and the resulting fallout, Tinklenberg has flipped the polling to his favor.

SUSA doing a poll for local TV station KSTP:
Tinklenberg:  47
Bachmann:  44

The latest find on Michele Bachmann has her attacking Muslims as "not assimilating" to Western culture because as she states, "not all cultures are equal."  Powell's remarks are directly on point to these kinds of remarks by members of our Congress.  These messages get out to the middle east and get our soldiers killed.

As Christian? Right Heads Explode Around The Country:

Sarah Palin: GOP Welcomes All Muslims

Amid a growing distrust among her conservative Christian supporters of anything Islamic, Sarah Palin goes on record stating emphatically that Republicans and the McCain-Palin ticket welcome all Muslims, adding "it is not acceptable in my book" to discriminate on the basis of religion. Her message of tolerance comes amid a growing tide of Islamophobia at McCain-Palin presidential rallies in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. How Christian fundamentalists interpret her remarks in the last days of the campaign is anyone's guess.

The wingnuttery going well nuts, and the hypocrisy going well Into Overdrive!!

gonna post this here unless I saw something that might just seemingly fit, like about Palin, but these two cases are like sisters and the GOP weeeeeel what can one say!
