VETERANS CALL ON STATE REP. METCALFE TO RESIGN OVER
'TRAITOR, BENEDICT ARNOLD' COMMENTS ABOUT VETERANS
IN NEW RADIO AD AIRING IN DISTRICT

BUTLER COUNTY, Penn. -- Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are running a blistering new radio ad locally, calling on State Representative Daryl Metcalfe to resign over his comments that those veterans who are fighting for energy security are "traitors."  The ad will air beginning today, and for a full week on area radio.

In the ad, Pittsburgh Iraq War veteran Chuck Tyler says, "Representative Metcalfe,  a lot of my friends never made it home from Iraq.  Dishonoring us dishonors their memory.  We deserve better - and so does Pennsylvania.  I'm not a traitor sir.  I'm just a veteran doing what's right to protect my country."  The ad closes with a call on Metcalfe to resign.  The full script of the ad is below.

In an email sent widely, Metcalfe stated that any veteran concerned about the flow of oil dollars to Middle East terrorists and fighting for a new American Clean Energy plan is a "traitor to the oath he or she took defend the Constitution of our great nation!  Remember Benedict Arnold before giving credibility to a veteran who uses their service as a means to promote a leftist agenda."

In response, the veterans group VoteVets.org is paying for the new ad in conjunction with Operation Free, calling on Metcalfe to resign.  Operation Free is a coalition of veteran and security groups currently on a bus tour to promote the need for a new Clean Energy policy as a national security matter.  VoteVets.org veterans are taking part in the tour.

The full script of the ad is as follows:

Dishonored
:60 Radio Ad

ANNCR:  Traitors.  That's what State Representative Darryl Metcalfe called decorated Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.  Traitors.  Pittsburgh resident and Iraq war veteran Chuck Tyler.

Chuck Tyler:  Representative Metcalfe.  A lot of my friends never made it home from Iraq.  Dishonoring us dishonors their memory.  We deserve better - and so does Pennsylvania.

ANNCR:  Metcalfe was attacking members of Operation Free; veterans whose goal is to make America more secure with clean energy and cut the flow of oil dollars to those who would do us harm.  It's a goal the Department of Defense, the CIA, and the National Intelligence Council all share.

Chuck Tyler:  I'm not a traitor sir.  I'm just a veteran doing what's right to protect my country.

ANNCR:  Call Representative Darryl Metcalfe at 717-783-1707 and tell him to resign - because attacking America's patriots is the most unpatriotic thing you can do.  A message from Operation Free. Paid for by Vote Vets Action Fund.

called Metcalfe's office right now (4.00 / 1)
I haven't done much lately, but just now I called Rep. Metcalfe's office and asked for his respect and honor for our vets and our troops regarding what he had said about their being traitors.
The assistant said she would relay my message.  My son is a
proud veteran of OIF and I want him and all of you to be honored not maligned.  Thank you all for your service.

I have to believe that something extraordinary is possible. (Mrs. John Nash)

I called Metcalfe and got the whole story (0.00 / 0)
When will Vote Vets begin to contribute to the debate instead of manufacturing false outrage?

And the Real? Story (0.00 / 0)
Is how much different from what he Wrote and Said, and Extreme Language he Used!!

How about when will certain folks start using their own intelligence to get the Real Story!!
