What color is the sky in Palin's world, or is she BSing?

I never thought Sarah Palin could say something that would leave me totally speechless, but this time, she's done it.  Reports Politico:

Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin on Monday accused President Barack Obama of not acknowledging the sacrifices made by the men and women in the U.S. military.

"There's been a lack of acknowledgement by our president in understanding what it is that the American military provides in terms of, obviously, the safety, the security of our country," Palin said during an interview with Fox News's Greta Van Susteren. "I want him to acknowledge the sacrifices that these individual men and women - our sons, our daughters, our moms, our dads, our brothers and sisters - are providing this country to keep us safe."

Hasn't acknowledged their sacrifices?  Seriously?  What's this look like?

It looks, to me, like more than the last President did.

This president also fought for, and got passed and signed advanced funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs, so that we can honor the sacrifices from our troops and veterans, by properly taking care of them.  Advance Funding has been a top priority of all veterans groups for a while.  President Obama made it into law.

The president ended the Stop Loss policy, which involuntarily extended troops in theater past their commitment - one of the most offensive policies to troops who made incredible sacrifice.  The President ended the ban on photos of the return ceremony for the fallen at Dover Air Base and other ports of entry, allowing families to decide if their loved ones casket could be shown.  Now, all of America can join in the solemn return ceremony, and see those who made the ultimate sacrifice be honored.

This president also ordered his Pentagon to re-prioritize their funding requests, to move away from high-end, unneeded weapons systems, and towards on-the-ground equipment that our troops in the field right now desperately need.  One of those big ticket items, funding for more F-22s, was finally ended under the Obama administration, while funding for more desperately needed on the ground Mine Resistant Ambush Vehicles (MRAPs) was increased.  Who opposed ending F-22 funding?  Palin's party.  I had a throwdown with a GOP Congressman on TV about it.

Where was Sarah Palin, saying Phil Gingrey wasn't acknowledging the sacrifices of our troops?  I just checked my cell phone records, and no, she definitely didn't call me to say she stood with the troops on that issue.

Afghanistan?  Yes, I want the President to make a call as much as anyone, and wish he could have started to formulate a new strategy earlier.  But, at the end of the day, I'd much rather him take time to get the strategy right than just roll the dice on a gut feeling and hope for the best.  Making sure the strategy in Afghanistan is right, and that we have what we need to get it done and leave, is much more respectful of our troops and the sacrifices they make.  Only someone who had no concept of their sacrifice would shoot first, ask questions later.

Of all people, Sarah Palin knows what sacrifices troops make - her son is one.  That none of the above even remotely registers in her mind can mean only two things - either her mind exists on an entirely different planet, or she knows she's being completely disingenuous for political reasons.

It seems many military people have made up their mind.  As my colleague Richard Smith reports, prior to Palin's visit to Ft. Bragg, book stores couldn't give her book away.  Wonder why?

Looking on the surface Soltz is right in his remarks.  OB has done a lot in acknowledging our troopers in the field -- and vets.  I'd like to see the whole conversation in context, but this looks really dumb. ( I only write this because some may think I'm a shill for her -- I'm not)

However, Soltz is wrong about the book sales.  They've already passed H. Clinton's memoir sales for the first week: 700,000 for P vs 600,000 for H.  I don't care, but them's the facts.

Where are the tens of thousands at her book signings??

Better recheck how book sales are counted and when and stop paying attention to first reports, on most of anything, but follow a line of fact check, or wait to get reality!!!

I never wrote anything about "tens of thousands" at her book signings.
Better recheck how book sales are counted

The sales figures are everywhere, i.e., 700K for the first week.  How do YOU count 700K?
As I said, I'm not a P. zealot; just want to maintain a perspective on both sides of issues.  And, BTW, don't start with me.  We can discuss issues without the overkill.

her book wasn't selling well in general. What Jon said was that ahead of her visit to fort bragg, her book wasn't selling well there.  If you watch the video in the linked post, you'll see the local news report describe the sales as "weak". Them's the facts.

I'm on twitter.

Really, Soltz? (0.00 / 0)
Where in Smith's article does it say Palin couldn't give her book away at Bragg? And, your pictures of Obama prove nothing except that he takes photographers with him wherever he goes.

I'm amazed that you can crawl out from under Obama's desk long enough to type these little propaganda pieces.

Sarah Palin's remarks about Obama's disrespect for US troops are dishonorable (0.00 / 0)
What has Sarah Palin ever done for US servicemen & women, other than exploit and politicize her self-promoting book-selling trip to Fort Bragg to suddenly claim it as an act of patriotism?
And what right does she have to falsely claim that President Obama has not shown respect or acknowledgement for the sacrifice of our troops in protecting our country?

As the proud mother of an ROTC US Marine option who will begin his service next year, Sarah Palin's lies about Obama really offend me. Let me remind Palin and others of just a few of the many ways Obama has consistently shown his appreciation and respect for our troops:

POST 9/11 GI BILL - He defended this bill against the White House, John McCain & Republican Congress last year and this year signed it into being, alowing veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to get free college education. McCain voted against it.

VETERANS HEALTH CARE BUDGET REFORM AND TRANSPARENCY ACT (H.R. 1016) - He supported and signed this bill which requires Congress to approve a health care budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at least one year in advance. A top priority for leading veterans groups for decades, it took Obama to make it happen.

LANE EVANS VETERANS HEALTH AND BENEFITS IMPROVEMENT ACT - Obama introduced this bill, made law in 2007, increasing care with $1.5 billion and requiring  VA &  Defense Dept to work together to better plan for medical care for the troops returning home

HEROES EARNINGS ASSISTANCE AND RELIEF TAX ACT of 2008 - part of the Kerry-Obama tax reform act, this Act would provide tax relief to the men and women in our nation's armed services

DIGNITY FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS ACT of 2005 - Obama also introduced this bill which improved poor living conditions and bureaucratic neglect at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital.

Obama led a bipartisan effort in the Senate to halt the military's unfair practice of discharging service members for having a service-connected psychological injury and passed an amendment to ensure that all service members returning from Iraq are properly screened for traumatic brain injuries.

Now, Sarah Palin - let's hear from you again on how Obama doesn't sufficiently appreciate or acknowledge our troops?
Let's hear your apology to President Obama for your disrespectful and stupid remarks.  Then, tell us what you did as Mayor of Wasill and Governor of Alaska, to improve the lives of our Alaskan veterans.....did your "love of the troops" walk your talk?
