View of McCain as "Expert" Unraveling as We Speak

This just keeps getting worse and worse for John McCain.  The wheels are coming off of this whole idea that he's some sort of foreign policy expert.  Instead, clips are coming out of the woodwork now--clips showing him to be a bit of a bumbler when it comes to international affairs.  The common theme throughout these instances is that John McCain has no idea who we're fighting in Iraq.

In fact, we now know that he has consistently conflated Iran with al Qaeda.  Here's another one from just last month:

MCCAIN: Al Qaeda is there. . .they're functioning, they are supported in--many times--in many ways by the Iranians. . . .

National Security Network has got the goods on this guy.  McCain did it before the Iraq War and now he's doing it for Iran.

It's about time McCain lost his free pass as a foreign policy "expert."  I've never understood how serving as a naval aviator in Vietnam, being taken prisoner, and serving as a politician qualifies one as an expert on ground warfare strategy in the Middle East.  It just doesn't add up.  These experiences have undoubtedly given McCain expertise on a number of topics, but the situations in Iraq and Iran are clearly not among them.

In the past five years, John McCain has shown no ability to exercise proper judgment when it comes to Iraq and Iran.  And many of us in the military see that.

b/c the latest CBS poll shows the Dem candidates' lead is getting narrower.  http://www.cbsnews.com/stories...

I myself have been wondering WHY exactly everyone has been saying he has so much foreign policy experience.  He is on the Armed Services committee, not the foreign affairs committee.  What's up?

McCain's non-support of the MGIB is too weird.  What's the downside?  GIs need this stuff, considering the tasks they're being given.  He needs to clarify, fast.

Rep. Murphy, D-PA, the only Iraq Vet in Congress, has taken McCain to task over McCain's apparent and stunning lack of foreign policy knowledge.
