Last night, 3-21-08, on the PBS Bill Moyers Journal, Bill talked
with Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro on the true cost of war and their documentary, BODY OF WAR

Photobucket The filmmakers talk about Iraq war veteran Tomas Young who was shot and paralyzed less than a week into his tour of duty. Three years in the making, BODY OF WAR tells the poignant tale of the young man's journey from joining the service after 9/11 to fight in Afghanistan, to living with devastating wounds after being deployed to Iraq instead.

GI death toll in Iraq nears 4,000
Three U.S. soldiers die in Iraq, toll nears 4,000
The three deaths, which brought the number of U.S. soldiers killed since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003 to 3,996, came just days after U.S. President George W. Bush said the United States was on track to victory in Iraq.

The single most powerful entry I have seen to date here at VETVOICE!

Every person in the United States should have the opportunity to see this video and hear what is being said...

All the questions are outstanding...  and have relevant answers we all have access to.

IRT Senator Clinton going on for the ride with the Iraq War resolution..  she did have the opportunity to vote for the Levin Amendment when the UN voted against the invasion.

IRT what Senator McCain's response would have been had President Nixon said the same 100 year comment during the twilight of the Vietnam War...  Senator McCain did say during a debate this winter that "We never lost a battle during Vietnam; the American people lost that war..."  As far as controversy goes, perhaps we need to ask him about whether or not he would be a major candidate for President if he did not have his years in Hanoi as part of his history?  I cannot even imagine what it had to be like to have been a P.O.W. for a day, let alone for years.  I think we have seen here at VETVOICE already, though..  "Does that qualify him to be the POTUS or CINC?

IRT the substance of Senator Obama..  that is an outstanding question to be asked that have been answered repeated by him during debates, rallies, and is on his website.

www.barackobama.com explains issues on the economy from the trade deficit, to taxes, to the Global War on Terror and its lack of focus on bin Laden.  The following is a direct lift from the Senator's website at www.barackobama.com:

In 2003 and 2004, he spoke out against the war on the campaign trail;

In 2005, he called for a phased withdrawal of our troops;

In 2006, he called for a timetable to remove our troops, a political solution within Iraq, and aggressive diplomacy with all of Iraq's neighbors;

In January 2007, he introduced legislation in the Senate to remove all of our combat troops from Iraq by March 2008.
In September 2007, he laid out a detailed plan for how he will end the war as president.

There is much more information there to seek out as well.

I have no diresgard for either Senator Clinton's nor Senator McCain's credentials as educated, experienced, and abled to get things done.  What I have a disregard for, though, is what exactly they have done and what they specifically they will/not.  Knowing the sensitivity surrounding issues of race, religion, and our economic and national security... both have sought to exploit our feelings on these issues..  campaigning on fear without much of anything on substance.

Hillary does have some good plans.  Question is; why can she not stand by her own plans without attacking Barack and John?  Is she afraid that no one will take her at face value and based on her merit?  Why does she have to speak of experience she does not have?  Why does she lean on her husbands years in the White House for her own credit?  Why do we not take a comprehensive look at how and why her health care plan of 1993 failed under a Democrat led Congress that was defeated in 1994?  Why does former President Clinton feel that 2009 would be different IRT his wife's relationship with Congress than it was during 1993?

Brothers and sisters...  we have got to move on the same matter that Governor Bill Richardson did..  we must unite, and prepare for the next challenges...  If we don't, we may just get run over again... more of our cohorts will come back casualties of war..(including my brother-in-law.. receiving disability now for severe PTSD)...

We, as veterans and leaders of our communities can admit if we were behind the wrong candidate(s) before..  Let's get this video out there, with perhaps a new finish that does linclude Senator Obama's very real plans for our future.. before we have a future more in peril than it already looks today...

Jim, this is great! (4.00 / 1)
