Neo-Cons Need to Pick an Enemy

First, our enemy was Sunni al Qaeda in Afghanistan.  That wasn't good enough, so we had to attack secular Iraq.  Now that the effort to "democratize" Iraq has failed, we have to focus on Shia Iran.  This weirds me out, but these guys are really, really obsessed with it.  Take a look at this video with the Weekly Standard's disarmingly ignorant Michael Goldfarb (and Robert Farley who attempts to penetrate his zombie-like fixation with Iran).

Goldfarb is the guy who--like McCain--still can't distinguish between Iran and al Qaeda.  He also has a history of soliciting journalistic favors on military matters from well-known dubious sources.

Lets focus (0.00 / 0)
on Wahhabism. AQ, AQI, the Muslim Brotherhood, GIA, GPSC, Tawhid wal Jihad, Ansar al Sunna and a slew of other Wahhabi jihadist groups are the real enemy in my eyes. Anyone care to guess which country is the number one supporter of these groups' ideology?????

Is it Saudi Arabia? (0.00 / 0)

[ Parent ]
I know a lot of them are Egyptian, also. (0.00 / 0)

Its Saudi Arabia (0.00 / 0)
although Egypt would likely be well represented as well. A large majority of AQ prime's leadership are Egyptian. Zawahiri, al Adel, etc. Then again Egypt's representation in terms of sheer numbers could be representation. Egypt has the largest population in the Arab world, hands down. That said, Saudi Arabia still wins by a relatively large margin, in my book. Saudis were well represented at Guantanamo as well.

Yep. (0.00 / 0)
And your point isn't missed: They're not Iranian or Iraqi.

[ Parent ]
Each time they try to paint Iran as the true enemy in Iraq (0.00 / 0)
They show how ignorant they are of Iraqi politics.  Maliki's government is closely tied to Iran.  The United Iraqi Alliance which predominately governs Iraq is made up of more than 20 different groups (including the Hezbollah Movement in Iraq), all with strong ties to Iran.  Maliki is the Secretary General of the Dawa Party which was exiled to Iran for over a decade.  And SIIC was formed by Al Hakim who trained Iraqi refugees in Iran during the late 80's and early 90's.
