Yes, We Don't Torture (0.00 / 0)
As most Americans (and vets) we learn more as this war goes on.  However, this article seems to paint us as torturers, scavenging the Earth, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that accusation.

Abu Ghraib was an anomaly, unfortunately, and it got big press.  However, I doubt it's the norm.  Water-boarding, as I understand, was discontinued in 2003 and was performed on only a limited time frame upon a very limited (high threat) set of people.  These two instances do not make the USA a "torture nation" as some suggest.  Am I wrong?

Perhaps the writer needs to look at the nature of "torture" that goes on in Russia, China, N. Korea, Africa, South America, Mexico,  Cuba, and on and on...  USA Today posted its annual "worst dictators of the world" expose recently.  I really don't think the USA comes close!  As they say, war is Hell, and things happen during split-second battlefield decisions.  But as a rule, our troops are honorable, and we should give them that honor.

OK, I admit, I'm not a Hate-America-First type of person.  Sorry.  But to be fair, I think this country and its leaders are nowhere near being the "bullies" that are manufactured by the far-left types who simply read too many blogs.  I'm proud of the USA, I'd rather live here than anywhere else, and I'll always stand up for our leaders be they Republicans, Democrats, Indies, black or white, man or woman.  Can the writer do the same, with objectivity?

Well, most of our (0.00 / 0)
leaders are chickenhawks and idiots. I am sorry, but there are some of our politicans I simply can no longer stand up for. Having said that, I see the point of this post: To nip the torture issue in the bud before it does become a major issue, since some of our leaders would rather play evasive and wishwash than give straight answers. But having been over there, I did not see American troops engaged in anything even remotely resembling torture.
