McCain Doesn't Mention VFW's Legislative Priority at VFW

Interesting note from Senator McCain's speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars today.

Though the group endorsed the Webb-Hagel 21st Century GI Bill last year, and counts it among its top legislative priorities, McCain decided not to mention it when he spoke to them today.

Wonder if anyone else noticed?

Did he talk to the VFW (0.00 / 0)
About the need to stay in Iraq for 100 years?

"No U.S. soldier ever dies in vain because they're carrying out the missions of their commander in chief. And we honor all the service that they've provided." - Barack Obama

I would (0.00 / 0)
think that tihis would be an issue that all vets could get together on and support.

Ah, the speech where he says (0.00 / 0)
It is time for the Democrats to "be honest with the American people" about the war?  I caught that clip on TV about an hour ago.  Does anyone know where I can find this online?  I keep finding the old speech...

Make wars unprofitable and you make them impossible.
~A. Philip Randolph

Maybe... (0.00 / 0)
he forgot where he was?

I hope the VFW was paying close attention. (4.00 / 1)
We are in the age of political ruthlessness and with people willing to lie to the American people over and over again it is critical that we pay close attention to what these politicians are saying. As military and supporters of military it is up to us especially to call out and hold accountable those that are misrepresenting us and using their own service to hurt those that are still serving. The fact that you served in the military or even that you were a POW does not give you a blank check or a "wink and a nod" if you are making choices that are without a doubt hurting military people!  However it does have a lot of "pull" with veterans of all ages and groups. The fact that John is willing to use this respect to further his political objectives first hurts me, and then it pisses me off. We must find better ways to explain this to civilians. I think that John McCain deserves respect for being a POW. I DO NOT respect John for dishonoring those in uniform by lying to them for political reasons. Enough is enough. We fought in these wars and damn it we can fight these politicians. Perhaps at one time John was still 90% independent supporter of the military and 10% politician. Those numbers have flipped-flopped now....  right along with John's positions and views on so many subjects and issues. We must pay close attention and ensure civilians are doing the same. We must point out these facts that we are painfully aware of,  but that they may not fully understand or comprehend. It is up to us to get this message out.
